Can't change logon credentials in Backup Exec 2014 Sp1.

In "Test/edit credentials" I can't change credentials for different SQL db

Backup Exec is opgraded from v 2012

There was no problem in Backup Exec 2012

Ok, strange issue, not sure what is going on.

All of the sudden this morning my network team informed me that some traffic for backups have been going over network over the weekend instead of fibre like it normally does,  We have the data buffers set to 262144 on our master server that handles all our NDMP jobs, this is what one of our SLP jobs is displaying,

Does this mean there is a mismatch on the buffer sizes causing the issue?  Is there a way to set the buffer size on our Netapp Filers somewhere?

on 4 servers the trustst beween MMs and win8 servers are not working. No backups possible

In tryed every technote.. nothing works. Pushinstallation of the agent works but no certifikate is created.

Manual installation the same..I have no more ideas..

Hello, we recently enabled DFSR replication from one file server to another and enabled VSS/Shadow copies on these servers.  Since that time my full backups of the primary server reduced from 1220GB to about 18GB and my differentials are slightly smaller (~15GB).  Initially I removed backing up of the Shadow copy components because I saw a couple of other exceptions and later stopped the backup job from using AOFO which didn't seem to help either.  We do not manage the backups of the secondary server.

I am not very familiar with these technologies, DFSR and the shadow copies component as they were recently deployed by an integretor without much thought to training and our current backup protocals.

We are using Backup Exec 2012 v14r1798 and the target is MS Server 2012 R2.

What's going on here and how do I configure this job to backup my shares?

Currently Backup Exec is backing up all the physical drives of the VM and the system state, shadow copy components are not selected.

I have a tape backup was three months ago follow the procedures in the following way for restoration of an accounting file that tape. 

and not shown to reastaurar files, the following procedure estroy verify, then catalog the tape and then import the image and to restore, but does not show me the files on the tape. and not to to be or am I not following the procedure correctly.

It has been a long time since I was on here. Everything has been working ok with minumum maintenance being done. 

I have been away for awhile and no one has done much maintenance on this system or kept it up. So I am going to start witht the basics, and try to get this system back to a good place 

We are using  BESR 8.5.5 and Management control 8.5.5. Everything has been rocking along pretty good until last week. 

We have up graded 30 out of about 50 pc's  to Windows 7 since last year and they are backing up on schedule. However, When I try to load it on some new systems, the installation fails due to looking for a file that doesn't exist and can't delete it

Questions:

Are my windows 7 backups good ( I have restored only one and it went well)

Is the loading problem specific to a version of W7? or a particular piece of hardware. So far this is first encounter with this . But I have loaded it on what is supposed to be the same hardware and software. (It's 2 IBA America recorders and client) One works and one doesn't. 

I'm pretty sure your going to say I need an upgrade.:-)  That is in the plan to do. I just want to know if there is a way around this error and are my W7 backups good ?  

Any advice is welcome. I was away from tis for a couple of years and Don't know what to do or versions etc.

  I'm new to Netbackup. Would you please advice on below query.

Two media servers, each with one standalone tape drive, exist in the Symantec Netbackup 7.5 
environment. Both weekly full and daily differential incremental backups need to run for the clients 
and each schedule has a different retention period. Because of network topology, some clients back up 
to media server 1 and some back up to media server 2. How can the administrator minimize the number of 
time tapes will need to be changed manually?

Short: fresh install on Server 2008 Std.
Back up exec 2010 R3 with SP 4.
HP Tapeloader 1/8 G2, using backup exec drivers for the tapeloader.
Everything was working fine before the new install.

So after some basic fresh install issues you always have with backup exec, we finally got everything working.
Our customer is changing tapes every week, on monday.
So when they change the tapes, the devices (tapeloader) is shown as 'offline' in BE.
Before the new install this wasn't the case.

The only way I get it to work again, is to reboot the tapeloader, restart BE services, and only then does the backup run again without any problems, for that week. Week after, same story.
We're using 2 sets of 8 tapes.

Any ideas to solve this?
Any dirty workaround is fine, since you can read on the thread above it's only a temporary situation.

For all I know, a script to reboot the autoloader is fine for me, but that's outside of BE.

I have a fresh Backup Exec 2014 install. This is NOT and upgrade. Running on a Windows 2012 server I have a number of backups already running on this machine.

I am in the process of transfering our Exchange servers from our Old Backup Exec 2010 backup to our New Fresh install BE 2014 install. I clicked Add and wen through the process of adding the Microsoft Exchange DAG agent. This showed "Stalled" for a minute or two, then recovered and finished successfully. However after clicking finish and the screen changes to Inserting Servers... It has stayed on the following screen for more than 20 minutes without installing the servers. Any clues on what I did wrong installing the DAG servers to BE 2014?

I have a Windows 2008 server that has been running SQL 2012 for months without any problem.  Using Backup Exec 2010 R3.  Installed Sharepoint Foundations 2013 on the same server that is running SQL 2012.  All databases are on the D partition.  Now randomly (it has happened twice since the Sharepoint Foundations 2013 install) when the backup starts and tries to initialize AOFO the D partition is wiped of all files.  The next morning when we come in to work Disk Manager shows the partition at 100% free space and we have to create a new simple volume, assign it a drive leter, format, etc. 

Restoring from a backup that did work gets all of the files back, but has anyone ever seen entire partitions get wiped out like that when a backup starts on the partition?  The C partition finishes without any problem.

I am going to remove the D partition and the system state from the backup and create a seperate backup to attempt backing up the D partition without AOFO turned on.  If I attempt to back up the system state doesn'tthat automatically use AOFO?  I do not have the Sharepoint or database agents installed.  I am considering upgrading to Backup Exec 2014 after the start of the new year when the budget starts over again...

I have a customer that have a problem with oracle clone feature in OPSCenter.
Netbackup and OPSCenter version 7.6.0.1

Issue:
Oracle clone using opscenter failes with "Lanch Clone failed".

This is what I can see:
Selecting Oracle DB using a time frame to search for time and date works ok.
Opscenter listes out several backup sets.
I can select from control file or backup piece.

Problem1:
Selecting one control file for some reason automatically selects several backup piece and several control files.
Runing thru the pre check every thing is ok. But restore fails.
In this senario I can see that aprox 1600 log files are to be restored.
The fact selecting one control file auto selects several control files and backup piece is this by design or is it a bug?
Selecting the control file gives me option to restore to different location

Problem2:
Selection only one backup piece is ok.
But now I cannot do a redirect on the DB files, but I can on control file and log file.

Any one seen this issue?

Everything I am finding on netbackup email notification is how to set it up or issues with it not working.

What I would like to find out is how to stop or disable the notifications.

3.What is PBX ? Is it really required in NBU 7.6 domain ?

4. Is there a command to check wheather we have backup or not from client machine ?

5. what all possible reasons for restore job showing - "media is in use" status. how to proceed with this to get the restore completed on priority.

Let me introduce myself first, I am Javier and have been for some months playing around with NetBackup in our company.

I came accross the following problem:
 

• We have a pretty big environment, let's say >1K client machines with NBU7.1.X / 7.5.X
• We have successfully upgraded our master servers and media servers with NBU7.6.0.3 last weeks.
• What we plan to do now, is to upgrade our client machines to this last NBU version (7.6.0.3), but we wanted to do it locally in each client. 
  So we created an RPM package, with the 7601 version and other with the patch 7603, to deploy it from our UNIX Network Satellite.
  The problem arises when we noticed that the ./install script calls RPM to remove the old installation's Agents and Packages working on the very same client and, as it's well known, there is no way to call RPM inside RPM (due to RPM DB locks and so on).

The question is:

Is there is any other way (such as copying the nbuclient BINARIES directly, ... etc) for installing nbu7601 (obviously with new agents working properly, etc) and then upgrading to nbu7603?

why do we want to do it this way? We want to deploy it automatically on thousands of servers and, therefore, avoid overloading masterserver's network traffic, consolidating it in the shortest time possible.

We are upgrading to 7.5 out of necessity, but have a handful of nodes that use SSR-2013, which apparently is not supported by SMP 7.5. What exactly are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to run a 7.1 NS in parallel and keep those nodes on it? I can't seem to find any tech docs beyond those saying it's not supported.

I modified this value under master server properties / SLP Properties:

Unused SLP definition version cleanup delay 10 seconds.

However, my SLP's still have many old versions associated. I can see the versions using the nbstl command.

How can I force a cleanup of all versions? Basically, I'm trying to delete an STU and get an error that it is still referenced in an SLP (version 4)

Drives are in AVR mode for one media server. Server rebooted, drive reconfigured, but still issue is there.

Able to scan the drives on media server, tpconfig -l, scan -tape are working. Ran tpautoconf -a, but no luck.

I am trying to fully restore a VM as a test using the point-in-time feature throught the restore wizard and what I have notice so far is that I am not able to restore to a certain point-in-time as I would like to think I could. I do not know if this is a default setting that would prevent us from going beyond 26 restore points, but if someone has a solution to this please let me know.

To better understand what I mean is if you look at the screen that I have attached, I have selected to show backups from 6/1/14 to 10/31/14, but I am only able to see the last 26 restore points from the restore wizard.
